It definitely works. R/C airplane builders have been using a similar technique to build composite wings for quite some time, and with the addition of vacuum bagging, the results can be both spectacular and light.

I will be investigating some thin PVC film which is able to be stretched in order to achieve a similar result on my strip boat.

: Just saw this, anyone tried this? Looks interesting if it works.
