I built a GP for surf, big blade for forcing bottom turns out of wave, with a 3/8" ceder core with uni direction carbon fiber on both sides then more ceder. You put the fiber between the wood wet with epoxy and clamp the whole thing till it sets, sand to shape with a mini grinder sander and a block of wood covered with sandpaper, a sweet,strong, lite paddle.
