Paul, cutting a slight bevel on the table saw is a great idea. Thanks for the tip.

: For a first strip-building experience, I'm guessing you have not bought
: router bits to make bead and cove edges. Don't bother to.

: The curves on most decks are fairly smooth and simple. Of course that can
: vary by design, but if you are building a s&g hull, then I'm assuming you
: are working from plans which call for a plywood deck-- and if your plans
: call for plywood there are not going to be any fancy bends or curves.

: You could probably get away with using square-edged strips to make a flat
: panel, then cut that panel to the shape of the plywood part it will
: replace.

: If you want to lay individual strips over forms, you might consider cutting
: the edges to a 2 or 3 degree bevel (87-88 or 92-93 degrees) by setting
: your table saw to this angle and running the strips through, putting this
: slight bevel on each edge.

: This fixed bevel approach works well for decks and should speed up your
: construction. You may find an occasion where you need to use a hand plane
: to tweek the fit, but it is just as likely that you won't need to.

: Good luck with your project.
