Nice vice and nice skinny work-bench.

I think loads of builders who have not used square edged strips overestimate the amount of planing that is actually required. Much of a boat requires little or no beveling at all, especially on the deck.

I actually think that cove and bead require substantially more work, in their preparation, and in their fitting, In particular where one wants to book-match the ends at the bow and stern on the deck and end up cutting off the curves anyway.

Is there anyone out there who has gone from Cove and Bead to flat edged strips and then back to C & B again? I suppose there must be.

I know this has come up on the forum many times before, but then I suppose so have most other topics at one time or another.

I really feel that it is easier to get a spot on job with flat strips and a little planing, especially if one clamps between stations.

Now I am going to duck and wait for fallout.

In this day and age of automated mass production isn't it great that everyone works in a different way?

There are so many paths to a destination. We DIYers are doing our part to keep that knowledge alive.

Happy paddling everyone.

Etienne
