I talk with a Epoxy Co.,Hunt , about a construction job and as we were wasting co time he told me about a side line the Co. did, wrap uni direction carbon fiber around big tanks. They had a machine of course to apply epoxy to the dry fiber as it went on the tank. That is one way to make the bands.
The second point, open cell wood hot tubs the 60's and 70's were known to harbor some nasty bugs, or was that the long hairs that would not move out. I have seen lots of wooden tubs but not up close in the plumbing online suppliers, may that would be a source for finish condition.
We want pictures when done so we can copy,I have a plan for a tub dropped into the floor for soaking to the chin with drop in teak grates as in sailboat cockpet grates for day to day showering. I was going to do concrete and tile, a standard job for me but have seen pic's of Japanese wooden tubs, nice.
