Hi Rob,

I remember looking at wood fired hot tubs years ago. The tubs were ceder and the bands were made from 304 SS. If it were me I would make the barrel up, rachet strap it together and make the straps up from SS and hire a local welder to butt weld them together. You should be able to get the steel from McMaster Carr or contact a local welding guy for a source. The thing I have found several times in this type of project is by the time you get done building you may find it just as cheap to go out and buy the tub already made.
