Well Robert, I live even further North(52 57 68) but far more to the east (5 54 44) and here there is nothing really frozen. This morning I helped my son to sail his sailboat to the winter harbour. There was a very thin flinter ice on the water but only near the shores. It was cold in our eyes but warm when I compare it with North America en Canada. I live in the Netherlands (Friesland) and the last 12 years we could not skate outside of the facilities where they use refigerators to freeze the water. What a loss of energy.
We had to make a phone call to the bridge which we would pass, 24 hours before. At 10.45 this morning we went through the bridge in Echtenerbrug. We had to pay 2 euro's which were collected as usual with a small wooden shoe and a fishing rod. In summer they 'fish ' a big amount of money from all those playboat skippers.
I do not have photo's and that is a shame because it was very beautifull on the 'Tjeukemeer' the biggest lake in Friesland.

I did enyoy your photo report from your ice kayak day. I looked it up in Google Earth and got a little idee of Edmonton and the river Saskatchewan.
Thank you.

Daan Daniels from the Netherlands
