Mine is not a great Kayaking story but if your in the Great White North I guess it could be a great story. Saturday I meet a couple of other paddles (even her they go in hibernation) on Town Creek. It is in the local State Park so no Duck Hunters. We paddled up to the head of the creek. We just had out first big rain in 2 or 3 years. Something like 4 inches in one night.

At the head of the creek the water was flowing off the mountain and what was usually a trickle was a fast flowing shoal. We took turns paddling up the eddy and riding the shoal down.

Then we left there and went up one of the side creeks/back water. With the rain the lake was up a few inches and we could get up to a spring I have heard about. It looked like a Florida Spring run. Gin clear water, sandy bottom. When we got to the spring it was a small rocky point/bluff and with a underwater cave that the spring comes out. It's the only one I know of here and it was very neat to finally get to see it.

On the way back one of the guys spotted what appears to be a cross on the bank. Now this is several miles from the road and a 3 hour or so hike to get here. So it was out of place. We paddled over and finally made out Kirby C... on the sign. Guessed it was Cemetery. A quick search on Google turned up a Alabama Archives listing confirmed it was a very old cemetery. You would never see it in the summer.

Not much in the water fowl area. We usually see lots of ducks and geese but the season is open. Not sure where they went since this is a no hunting area. We did see two bald eagles though.

Did I mention the temprature was upper 40's and probably hit 50? :)

Sorry no photos, I left my camera in the truck! :(
