Kevlar is very difficult to work with. Hard to cut, hard to wet out (it doesn't go clear like glass so you really can't tell when it's saturated), doesn't sand, absorbs a lot of resin, and lacks stiffness.

If this is your first attempt at boat building I would go with all glass. It will probably end up being lighter anyway. Good luck - I was looking at builing the same wave ski - let us know how it goes.
