Yup, you are right....with flexible plastic condiment containers and relatively small syringes, you won't have any problems with a vacuum....however, if one uses glass containers, or rigid plastic containers and large (60 cc) syringes, the vacuum will be a problem...the steps describe a way to compensate and minimize the vacuum.

The comment about luer vs. catheter tip syringes was intended to help those people if they are asked "what kind of syringe do you want"? The larger catheter tip syringes aren't oral syringes, but are used for irrigation (not vegetable fields, but wounds, bladders, etc.) Either way, luers are not the correct type for epoxy, since you would probably need a needle because of the short tip.
