Now days it seems that designing a hydrofoil sailing boat would be fairly easy, but I remember all the boats that didn't work leading up to the trifoiler. The trifoiler makes it look easy, but even using that as a basis it's still darned difficult to make a boat that'll get up on foils and stay there for more than a second or two. If it won't get up out of the water then the foils are just extra drag and instead of making you go faster, they slow you down.
