: I believe the Polypropylene webbing melts better the Nylon but I have used
: both. I like to use a hotgun to melt mine but have used a match also. I
: have tested the strength of the flanges by cutting a slit in 1/4-inch
: plywood and trying to pull the soft pad eye through the slit with pliers
: and couldn't break the flange. I found that holding the straps between
: metal, then melting the strap down to the metal but leaving it kind of
: thick and mashing it down with another piece of metal works good.

Polypropylene definately melts better than either nylon or polyester. Here are a couple of photos...first one is 3/4" wide Nylon, the second is 1 inch wide Polyester. they were also a lot thicker than the polypro, so that might have had something to do with it. I really had to lay on the heat which went through the aluminum angle and actually started to melt the loops, making them stiffer.
