You can see my set up in the background of this picture. It is a wooden clamp with two pieces of aluminum angle on the tips. When I tried to use some maple as a clamp, the material stuck to the wood, so I went with the aluminum.

I've been using a lighter wand waving back and forth along the edge. I believe the material is polypropylene (sp?)...1 inch wide.
