: I'm looking for some quality control from you who have used soft padeyes such
: as the ones Joe uses at Redfish Kayaks. I'm having trouble getting the
: flow even, resulting in some strange shaped flanges. I'm wondering if the
: flanges are too thin or too irregular to be reliable. I'm attaching some
: pictures. Comments would be appreciated.

: Thanks

I believe the Polypropylene webbing melts better the Nylon but I have used both. I like to use a hotgun to melt mine but have used a match also. I have tested the strength of the flanges by cutting a slit in 1/4-inch plywood and trying to pull the soft pad eye through the slit with pliers and couldn't break the flange. I found that holding the straps between metal, then melting the strap down to the metal but leaving it kind of thick and mashing it down with another piece of metal works good.
