: Ok, Ok!! I won't build the boat out of the Mahogany, but I will use some of
: it for accent strips, I just thought it would make a beautiful boat. I was
: just not sure how heavy it would be. I'm attaching a pic of one plank and
: a smaller board that was dragged up from under the shop. (you can see the
: shop in the background, the front porch and entire floor is mahogany,
: covered in ply inside)

You are walking all over something that is quite valuable. Clear mahogany in pieces that big. WOW!

Cut your accent pieces from some of the smaller planks. Not only will you be using a less valuable board, but it will be lighter and easier to manage as you rip some strips. Selling some of the remaining wood will cover your project costs for the kayak.

Make a few phone calls to custom cabinet makers in your state, or nearby states. You might check with the most expensive furniture dealers around and see who makes their stuff to get a few leads. These people would probably love to bid on your mahogany. Others who might be interested are shops that cut hardwood veneers. A hardwood lumber dealer might get you the name of one who supplies them.

Good luck with this
