: No, not a typo! I got real lucky, my dad bought a house that had a shop out
: back that had 10-12 of these boards under it.(I call them slabs!) They are
: actually 15-18 ft long, I cut one in half to get it home, and because I
: didn't have anywhere to store a 16' long board. They are stickered and
: stacked under the shop, out of the weather and have been for there for the
: last 8-9 yrs or longer. The shop floor is actually 3/4 ply on top of 8/4
: mahogany. I guess whoever built it had no clue what he was working with.
: It is extremely straight grained with no knots. Beautiful wood.. Gonna
: make a nice kayak!

A real quick search on Google for mahogany prices--and grabbing just the first result that looked promising (http://www.irionlumber.com/pricema.htm), shows a price for short mahogany boards in 24 inch width at about $12 a board foot. A 30-inch-wide board might be worth $13 to $15 a board foot, and one which is 15 to 18 feet long would be worth even more. Each of your slabs is 40 board feet, or worth well over $400, so you've got about $800 worth of wood there. Selling that, (or trading it) for cedar, glass and resin would give you enough lumber for several boats, and pay for the epoxy and glass for a couple of them, as well.

Have you considered that the original owner may have known the value of that lumber and purposely buried a treasure under the floor? Wouldn't be the first time someone has put their valuables under the floorboards.

Just a thought
