Seeking: Building a wooden kayak

Hi there:

I am an aussie (Sydney)and a keen kayaker, but relatively new to this game. I would like to build a wooden kayak, but need good advice on where to get started and how much this might cost; well, at least a price range to consider. I welcome any advice.
