My one only SOF has polyester coated with epoxy and the times I have gone across rocks only left me with a blemish type of scratch not even anything you could feel. With all the work I put into stitching the boat up, I can't see doing that with something sub standard.

My point is that you can be a calm pond paddler and still go across a sharp branch or stone.
