Skin-on-Frame: vinyl skin thickness and durability

i have searched and read most of the posts i could find about vinyl skins on SOF's but i still am in a quandry about it durability. since you cannot coat it with anything to increase it puncture resistance (i could be wrong but i didnt find where anyone coated it), how does it hold up to general use? and by "general use", i mean lakes and protected seas that would not have much rocks and sticks...

and could i coat the hull with 10 mil vinyl and the spray some sort of adhesive on it and coat it again with an additional sheet of 10 mil vinyl?

thanks all!

Vinyl is cheap, fast to install, fairly durable
