In Response To: Vinyl is cheap, fast to install, fairly durable (Paul G. Jacobson)

that is how i feel about it, Paul. I have built a couple S&G kayaks, i am almost done with a SOF, with another one right behind it for myself and it will be skinned in Nylon as well.

but then... i want to build a Sea Cruiser with a vinyl skin, just for fun. i have even thought about staining the frame a deep dark reddish color just for contrast. if i am ever in your area, perhaps we can go kayaking (carefully) together with our invisible crafts ;-)
