I used "waterdog" style for awhile (basically, a rubber sole with nylon mesh upper). They were okay, but my feet got tired easily. I also tried Teva sandles, but they just seemed to big and sloppy. This past summer I got a pair of Teva watersport shoes. They look like a low-slung hiking shoe, but they've got small ports for water to leak out (and in). They don't dry fast, but they have a harder sole than the waterdogs and a comfortable heel, and my feet are comfy for hours of paddling. You definitely should look for something with good heel support. The only thing that worries me about these is that they have laces which I fear could get caught on the footpegs someday (not good if you need to wet-exit). I got them on closeout (maybe with laces they weren't selling well). I'll look for something with straps next time. I paid about $35 US which was about half-off list.
