Wayne,

The plastic sheet covers the length and width of the Hull. Slits are cut were a station needs to poke through. These slits are secured with tape to the stations to help create a better humidity seal. The plastic has a added benefit in that it catches any glue drips from the Deck stripping. You could still use this plastic sheet idea to help catch glue drips even if you do not Glass the Hull until the Deck is stripped.
