In Response To: Why Hatches? (Rene Braun)

I'll be puting the bulkheads in Jayne's Chesapeake within the week. My solution to the hatch question: I'm gonna cut BIG holes in the bulkheads and plates that fit ove them w/ a foam gasket and use some sort of wing nut or cam type dog to fasten them water tight after the boat is loaded, or when it is out of the water so the spiders can get in and set up shop. If anyone has tried this with negative results please stop me. If not I'll post pictures.
