This sounds like the standard way of adding more layers of glass to reinforce areas of most need. Placeing the smaller piece over the top of the larger one allows you feather the edges of the smaller one and make the edge disappear.

Use 60 or 80 grit paper about 40 hrs into the cure and sand about an inch of the edge of the offending glass to make a smooth transition to the glass underneath. Make sure you don't sand into the glass under the offending edge.

When you fill the weave of the cloth (preferably imeadiatly after the edges are feathered to make sure you get a good chemical bond between epoxies) the edge will disappear.

: I glassed the hull of my boat last night. I put the second piece of glass
: between the chines and have an awful lot of fibers that pulled away from
: the cloth. Mostly is not really noticeable but there are some areas that
: don't look great. As the epoxy was setting I went back and snipped off the
: worst offenders. Is there anything I can do now to improve the lok? As an
: after thought I think it would have been best to use two ful pieces for
: the hull covering the whole hull , sheer to sheer.
