: They have been thinking about some kind of fee in Wisconsin. I'm not sure where they have gone with it?! Last summer I paddled in Maine, NY, & UP of Michigan. I'm not real sure of the laws in these States but I thought I was safe to paddle my kayak without registration in Wi, Me, & Mi. I'm not sure about NY. It would put a damper on a paddle for a fine. Question: How do you feel about paying at a boat ramp??? P.S. About the money going to (motor)boaters, Here in Wi,(I'm a Motorcyclist, with more than a hand full of "bikes") back in the mid-80's we lost the extra money we paid into our registration of our motorcycle to funding the motorboaters however the State of Wi seemed fit.I don't see the relationship between the two?!? I say motorboaters because we don't need to register (yet) a boat without a motor for propulsion. Maybe it went for more boat ramps I hope. Getting back to paying a fee for registration of anything that floats, with the price of gas going up and up maybe "THEY" want to tax eveything on the water before it gets too expensive to go motorboating around.
