In Response To: Oregon Legislation (Brian Wegener)

A few of us fought a losing battle in Alaska last year when the state took over boat registration from the Coast Guard (last state in the Union to do this).

The state instituted boat registration upon anything that floats and is 10 feet or longer.

Red ID state number sticker on the boat, registration carried with the boat any time it is out somewhere, manufacture ID numbers on the boat (or assigned numbers for homebuilts).

Every individual boat has to be registered and if it is sold, the new owner has to reregister it (no transfers).

: ( : ( : ( But our legislative majority is not known for any identification with people who don't use motors or burn lots of oil products.
