: I'm about to get started stripping the boat, but I don't have any long
: lengths of material(most around 8 to 10ft). Would it be a good idea for me
: to scarf and join a pile of strips before starting or just the shear
: strips?

hi jason;
i'm just starting a spring run and like you had only short stock to work with.
my solution was to scarf together 18ft boards, plane smooth, then rip my strips. on my first two boats i had all full length boards to work with. i liked it.
