Seems to me that the Schroedinger's cat solution is the most promising...one just gets in the box with the cat and presto, transport oneself (and the cat) to some far off, mystical and uncharted shoreline. Since the kayak needs to go in the box also, I suggest using two refrigerator boxes, fiberglassed together to make one long box.

There's only problem with this solution that I can think. If the box is somehow opened while on your schroedingers kayak journey, you'd be instantaneously transported back, thus bringing your travels to an end.
