Arthur,
If my boat is going to live uncovered on a trailer or at a dock UV would concern me. I would guess most of the craft that folks here are building get really little UV exposure over a season. I varnished the guideboat about ten years ago, I'll hit again soon, not because of UV damage, but just because of the dings and arrows of handling it. Varathan sounds like it might stand up to that treatnent better than Cap's Foghorn's spar varnish.
