Have a look at the Forest Products Lab site to make sure (they also rate for bendability)but I think Tamarack is another name for Larch or Juniper.

If so, it's good bending stuff, and I used it. I steamed, and when it cooled before I got the thing completely on the form, I hit it with a heat gun (paint stripper)to iron out the difficult spots.
