I built a Chesapeake 17 (from plans) last year and while the boat handles/tracks extremely well, it has MUCH more volume than I need, especially in the cockpit area (and I'm 6'1" and 180 lbs.). I'm now 1/2 finished with my second boat, a much lower volume North Bay (from a kit to save a bit of time). From everything I've seen and read, the 16LT or 17LT is the way to go unless you need the volume for yourself or additional camping gear.

Build and enjoy...lots o' fun any way you go.
