2 greenland paddle drip ring ideas

: and it does sling an awful lot of water down the blade and onto my
: hands, sleeves, and spray skirt

I have no experience w/ greenland paddles but I think these might be ok. the idea is that 99percent of the water runs down and along the bottom edge of the blade.

1/wrap the paddle shaft once w/ say some 1/4in diam smooth tubing at the location that a drip is desired. on the ctr side of the tubing put a bead of clear silicone or polyurthane sealant on the bottom quadrant of the circle of tubing. let set up and remove tubing. you now have a soft fairly unobtrusive abrupt drip. you could do multiples of these in a row if desired. if the paddle is always oriented w/ one side up(why not), maybe on the blade would work too.

2/i prefer this one. take 3 inches of 1/8 to 3/16 line(choose w/ care to either contrast or not) and glue(epoxy whatever)2 inches of it on the downside edge (maybe cove it a bit to fit) right beyond the shoulder of the blade. the 1in free end should point back at you past the shoulder towards the ctr of the paddle. (i bet the whole thing could be shorter) water runs down the blade edge right along the little stub and off the paddle.

both of these are flexible so no big deal if paddle used upside down. or just put on both edges and make the sealant one very thin and experiment w/ real flexible lines and experiment w/ how short you can go. like would 1 in of mylar fishing line be enough?? inset at the shoulder inline of the blade edge(min to no angle)?

I gues a little hot glue would tell for sure.
