: I give this source for foot pegs in the instruction book. John R. Sweet +1

He is not in my book but thanks, I'll follow up.

: Read your instruction book. It's all in there.

Read the book. In fact I cut the book into 8 1/2 X 11 pages and 3 hole punched then found out that they are not in page sequence that way. With the cover they come out cover page, 3,1,2,4,7,5,6,8,11,9,10.... live and learn. Since I reread each section before I set to work its just a challenge to jump around.

: Having spent my whole life around boats I'm used to seeing bolt heads and
: different mounting hardware on boat hulls. I guess this is one reason I
: don't mind seeing bolt heads on my hull sides. I've never had anyone
: mention how horrible they looked. Aren't people kind.

I don't think they look bad its just that I too was raised with boats all of my 60 years and I've always avoided through hull's whenever possible so it just made good sense to me to use and epoxy mount if I could. I will probably survive a failure if one should occur.

I have another question raised in your book that stumps me. Here is the quote from your book, "I believe heat from the sun hitting the deck has produced enough heat to reactivate the glue. The glue could become soft and creap, causing the deck strips to shift. This could cause the fiberglass sheathing to be stressed and turn white."

I don't see how this is possible. My PVA glue bottle says its good to 500 degrees F. I don't know the kindling temperature of epoxy but I know that cedar will burn at 250 F. Even if it did reactivate, how could any movement occur when every square inch is epoxy coated on both sides?

I just finished stripping the hull today so I will be facing a decision on what glue to use for the deck very soon.

BTW, for what its worth, I do appreciate the time and effort that went into your book. It was one of the factors in my decision to build a G. B. as a first time kayak. The interest by a builder to try different things is the very reason that we are builders instead of buyers. If I build it and it fails I can take it back to the shop and hopefully make a better decision when I rebuild it.
