: I'm building a G. B. also and am still stripping the deck. Where does one
: locat e the famous Yakima brackets? I tried the rack company web site
: without success. Has anyone designed their own adjustable foot braces?
: Preferably with the adjustible part like a stiff wire hook into a series
: of holes located near the cockpit for easy reaching? I can picture the
: hooks and holes but not the part my feet rest against or the sliding part.
: I like the idea of mounting the entire mount inside the hull. No thru hull
: holes for me.

I give this source for foot pegs in the instruction book. John R. Sweet +1 (540) 468-2222. He also supplies closed minicell foam for seats, seam tape and a lot of other kayak building supplies. I'm sure he now has a web site too.

Read your instruction book. It's all in there.

Having spent my whole life around boats I'm used to seeing bolt heads and different mounting hardware on boat hulls. I guess this is one reason I don't mind seeing bolt heads on my hull sides. I've never had anyone mention how horrible they looked. Aren't people kind.

The other reason I drill the hull and bolt through is because I want to know, two years from now when I paddling like hell to get out of a storm. that my foot pegs aren't going to break off cause I did a bad job of gluing them to the hull sides. I expect those foot pegs to have a LOT of force placed on them over the years.

I'd rather bet my live on a bolt than glue.

And you'll lose a couple inches of hull width by having to glue in blocks to screw to.

But it will look good.

I'd like to know if the people out there building my GB, NS or other boats are making their cockpit coaming with the laminations I suggest or some other way.

I'm surprised at how many get involved in adding Ted Moores laminated stems. some Rube-Goldberg stapless methods and other wastes of time that will not improve the but think my laminated coamings are too much work.

I guess I'm learning from following this BB that very few people follow directions. All the time I spent writing those instruction books and illustrating them and locating material sources.

Sorry, Just depressed from lack of paddling.

All the best,
Rob
