: My husband hasn't killed me yet, although this is only the second boat, and
: the supervising cat is still alive. Seriously, the MAS epoxy doesn't smell
: - at least not noticeably upstairs when used in the basement. Captains
: Varnish smells dreadful though. Epoxy drips are bad, and a plastic drop
: cloth is a good idea. I got a few epoxy drips on the washing machine and
: dryer too last winter(my work bench, and yes, it was covered) but as I do
: the laundry no one is complaining. I used an extra heater in the basement
: to prewarm the boat and then switched it off for curing in an effort to
: avoid gassing out. It seemed to work well.

I agree, MAS doesn't smell nearly as bad as the oil paint we painted our steel columns in our house with...it just won't go away. I have been doing the epoxy thing in "my husbands's shop"...he now calls it "Angela's shop". Somehow some epoxy made it under two layers of heavy plastic dropcloth, onto the metal bed of the table saw...when it was discovered, I held my breath, waiting for the wrath that is usually reserved for women scorned, but waited in vain. He pointed to the epoxy, scraped it up, and said: "no big deal"!! How lucky can you get?
