That sounds like a good idea, but is may cost a little more (like it is a really big deal, my last SOF cost $120). ;) I have always been able to buy fabric wide enough to skin the whole kayak in only one length. If you are using narrower cloth this would be nice. Add durability where you need it most and keep the weight down where you can.
