I'll probably use a polyurethane (Varathane) to seal the wood frame. Although glassing would be possible, it is not needed for strength and would be heavy. Epoxy is another choice. Roger Nufer used this on his Walrus with good results. No matter what the system, a seal coat is necessary to prolong the life of the boat.
