I have been using a simple Sears wet/dry vac attached to my Makita ROS with good results. The dust bag supplied with my sander appears to be mostly a marketing gimmick, and really doesn't catch too much of the sanding dust. Once hooked up to the wet/dry, a very high proportion of the sanding dust gets vacuumed up(95%+). I would recommend this to anyone about to sand out a boat. I also use the same approach on my band saw and stationary belt sander. While not elegant, this method is simple, cheap, & noisy.
