: Its taken me a little while to digest your suggestion, I must have read it 20
: times trying to get my mind wrapped around it.
: I think I finally have a handle on the concept.

: The degree of bevel on any particular strip really doesn't matter. What
: matters is matching the bevel on both strips where they meet. I could have
: a strip where the bevel varied all over the place and it wouldn't matter
: as long as it matched the corresponding surface on the strip I'm glueing
: it to.....how come this sounds so obvious when I'm writing it but I never
: thought about it during the 150 hours I've spent actually beveling the
: strips. The trick is to bevel both surfaces at the same time. AHHHHHSOOOO.

: funny how much better I feel having just understood the obvious.

Hi Ben

I just slightly bevelled the underside of the new strip going on. I just over beveled the one already there by eye to the lay of what I thought the new strip would be. I am not the greatest woodworker, but this has worked for me, and in the areas faired down I don't see problems with varying strip widths. To people dealing with extremely exact strip sizes, not having a symmetrical bevel may be an issue, but I didn't worry about it and mainly bevelled only the attached strip and not the one going on. The forms are a guide every step of the way, just make the file stick straight out like a sunray and then just a tad more to how you think the edge of the next strip might be.
