Its taken me a little while to digest your suggestion, I must have read it 20 times trying to get my mind wrapped around it.
I think I finally have a handle on the concept.

The degree of bevel on any particular strip really doesn't matter. What matters is matching the bevel on both strips where they meet. I could have a strip where the bevel varied all over the place and it wouldn't matter as long as it matched the corresponding surface on the strip I'm glueing it to.....how come this sounds so obvious when I'm writing it but I never thought about it during the 150 hours I've spent actually beveling the strips. The trick is to bevel both surfaces at the same time. AHHHHHSOOOO.

funny how much better I feel having just understood the obvious.
