I had some fairly varying bevels form to form, so tried it a little differently after some experiences like yours. I put(stapled(!) and/or only glued)the strip on first with no or very little prior bevelling. I then used a 12in long plus handle file(total abt14in) to final set the bevel perpendicular to the tangent of adjacent forms. Easy to guess as a form is max 6 inches away. End up w/ tiny nubs at ea form to slice off w/ a razor knife(exacto or whatever).(sorta slammed the file back and forth betw forms and then fine tuned). (Like the nubs are only on the inside of the strip as you don't file to the outside edge and if you angle the file, it's only say 1/8 in wide on a 1/4in wide strip - tiny.) In most cases the next strip underside was place on with little or no bevel so I maybe just over bevel abit to reduce work.

This is only useful if the bevel really varies, or if you're having difficulties fitting (as it's very to estimate the angle), otherwise planing will be way faster. And it's what most others use too.
