: IMHO While you could do it either way, I would recommend against the board
: against the fence instead of the strip against the fence for 2 reasons. I
: think it would be harder to maintain a consistant thickness of strip
: because you open yourself up to error every time you move the fence.
: Second, it would take you a month to cut all of those strips up if you
: have to measure between each one.

: I made myself a go-no go guage out of a piece of steel with .23 and .26 slots
: as a quick way to check the strip thickness without having to measure each
: time, just slide the guage along the strip to see if it fits in the large
: slot but doesn't fit in the small slot. You could do the same thing with a
: piece of hardwood.

Let me preface this 'idea' by confessing I have almost zero woodworking experience! (I ripped enough strips for one boat and it scared me...)

Instead of having to move the fence after each cut, could some sort of set of spacers be used between the fence and the board? Just a few strips of plywood, or what have you, each exactly one strip thickness wider than the previous spacer. If you had eight spacers, you could make about eight cuts before having to adjust the fence...

I know that this will probably make most of you laugh, and a few shake heads with fear and concern, so if it really is a bad idea, I apologize!
