: That does it! Either my yak is jinxed or the RAKA epoxy I used. My yak seems
: to attrack all the wild life in my neighborhood. The first day I glassed
: the cocpit, a racoon climb all the way inside and crapped. I have to scrap
: and wash the inside of my yak. Everytime I coated the boat, I found cat
: paw prints all over. Since than, I made a tarp cover which got tatter real
: soon -- they still managed to get inside.Last week I did the final fill
: and set it aside to cure for a week to wax it. Last night a skunk was
: chased by my neighbor's dog. Guess where it end up. I don't know where it
: sprayed (inside or out,) the whole thing stinks 20 feet away. I probably
: have to sand it down once the smell subsided to remove possibly any smell
: contamination and cover the rest with yet one more coat of epoxy to seal
: in any smell.
: Any suggession to remove skunk smell without demagging the epoxy or future
: vanish?
: My brother-in-law now calls my effort "the Skunk Work." -- he
: previously called that "the Titanic."
: You know guys, I just may paint a skunk onto the back side of my yak to
: remember this. So, in the future, if you see a stitch and tape Guillmot
: with a strip recessed deck and skunk paint on the stern end, you know
: where this all started!

Tough luck

First thing I'd do is call spca or one of those animal shelters. They're bound to have good advice about cleaning out smells. Put it in the yak, and tape on a plastic cover, sluish around and leave on for a few hrs. Maybe a recirculating pump sitting inside and aiming the spray at the location, leave going for a few hrs.

Second thing is to take 24 in by 40 pc of scrap chicken wire or lightish mesh and bend it over coaming, cut to fit and snap it on each time you store it. Maybe leave a car pine scenter inside.

-good luck
