It's a beautiful boat, Peter. I just finished cutting and trimming all my panels for the chined deck version, and am going to start stitching this weekend. I was a little nervous when I read the notes on the chined version saying it hadn't been built yet, but I'm hoping for the best. If anyone has built this version, I'd love to share notes.

The one problem that's come up so far was with my scarf joints. I did them all at once, aligning each one on top of the one beneath in a big stack, clamping one side and put a bunch of heavy weights on the rest of the joint to push it all tightly together. Unfortunately, the bottom two boards were not compressed enough and the joints looked weak. While cutting the panels out and lifting them to turn them, the bottom one made cracking sounds and tore, separating at the joint partway. I'm unsure whether to just inject some epoxy into the tear and re-clamp it, or to break the joint, sand it, and then re-join it. Any suggestions?

Anyway, beautiful job, Peter. Maybe you could post some close-ups of the bow and stern so we can see the shape a little better.

Thanks,
Mark

: All in all I’m very pleased with the results and can highly recommend this
: boat to anyone. While I’m certainly not qualified to comment on the
: technical merits of the design, I can emphatically say that it’s one of
: the most beautiful hard-chined hulls I’ve seen - whether commercial
: fiberglass design or S&G. My thanks to Grant Goltz of Squeedunk kayaks for
: designing a gorgeous boat and making the plans available to the kayak
: building community.
