I'm not too sure how flexible white oak is, but I'm using 1/8" x 1/4" strips of walnut and pine and they make the bend without any problem. Are you sure you should be using 3/4" wide strips?

I wouldn't notch them, if you can't get them to make the bend, then cut some thinner ones (say 3/32" x 1/4").

: I can't seem to wrap the 1/8" x 3/4" strips around and keep the
: distance above the deck even (I'm tyring to make the lamination 1 strip at
: a time). Do I need to notch the strips to make them go where I want? Any
: suggestions?

: I'm using white oak.
