Congrats! Now that sure looks alot like Mission Bay...and by any chance, are you the one that ordered the passle of strips from Hardwood and Hardware up in Kearney Mesa about 6 months or so back?

So as you can probably guess, we're Insane Diegans too. Funny we haven't crossed wakes yet...

Anyway, the yak sure is a beauty, too bad ya didn't look in the back of numerous Dixielines, Home Bases and Home Depots, the dumpsters are generally loaded. Our canoe, and both yaks are made up of "scrap wood," all from dumpsters or from the incredible Mary Matava from her business, the El Corazon Compost Facilty up in Oceanside, California on Oceanside Boulevard and El Camino Real. Another (free) source of wood is the West Miramar Landfill operated by the City of San Diego. Sundays are slow and that's the time to get free wood (and some of the best compost around, free to SD residents). Just to get some idea of reality: some of the so-called "waste wood" we used in our yaks are Brazilian mahogany, Rosewood highlights, bits of ebony made into deck fittings, and enough clear grain popular to make 4 yaks...then again, our landfills are full of threatened and endangered wood...like redwood...

cheers, and congrats again Tig and Tink (of Sandy Dago)
