Elegant, simple, strong. Yep--more than adequate, and shouldn't be a problem.

I used 5/8" thick solid mahogany blocks--no fiberglass. (3) T-nuts in anticipation of footbraces I've never installed. I screwed 2x2 x 4" long blocks with a 1/4" carriage bolt through the center into the t-nut. No pull-outs even with the 2-year-old jury rigged footpeg system. I don't think you'll experience any failures!
