I live in Orlando and have lots of relatives in Fort Lauderdale area. Have you ever kayaked canals that go out to the Everglades? I here the inland canals are interconnected (??) and you can get to the everglades from most all of them if you know where you are going. Was wondering if it would be worth it? Intercoastal would be fun (except for the heavy traffic) and have thought of that as well.

There are alot of lakes up here, and the larger ones will keep you busy for a while. Lots of wildlife and things to see (I hear).
