Hey Brian, I too am building a Guillemot 18. I'm just at the sanding stage, so I'm not sure about my weight yet either. What kinds of wood did you use? What thickness strips? Did you do a fill-the-weave coat on the inside of the deck/hull?

Inquiring minds want to know!!

Mine is cedar-hulled with a pine/redwood deck.

Anything will be better than my 57-lb. Chesapeake 17 with only 6-oz. glass on the outside of the hull. Even if the new boat is that heavy, it will be glass-heavy (strong) and not resin-heavy (heavy) like the first one. I'm planning to do 6-oz. cloth everywhere with a double layer on the outside of the hull and bow/stern stem strips. I've used 1/4" strips throughout, but maybe I'll do some really aggressive 60-grit sanding on the deck.
