: I used 1/4 x 3/4 inch bead and cove cut strips for the hull and deck. I laid a very similar pattern to Ross Liedy Guillemot and I'm hoping it turns out as nice after the varnishing is done. When glassing, I painted a coat of epoxy on the hul before laying the cloth and then put about 1 to 2 thin coats of epoxy on the outer weave to fill before sanding. Inside no epoxy fill on the cloth.

: Anything will be better than my 57-lb. Chesapeake 17 with only 6-oz. glass on
: the outside of the hull. Even if the new boat is that heavy, it will be
: glass-heavy (strong) and not resin-heavy (heavy) like the first one. I'm
: planning to do 6-oz. cloth everywhere with a double layer on the outside
: of the hull and bow/stern stem strips. I've used 1/4" strips
: throughout, but maybe I'll do some really aggressive 60-grit sanding on
